Coach Mike, a Brooklyn native, starred as the starting point guard for James Madison High School in the competitive PSAL Brooklyn A division. In his senior year (2007-2008), he led the division in assists, averaging 17.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game. He ranked among the top 50 point guards in New York City and recorded the second-highest single-game point total in school history with 41 points. After high school, Mike played two years at York College in Queens, where he shot 100% from the free-throw line his freshman year.
